%E3%80%80%E2%96%A0+Aspirations+upon+taking+new+role+%3Cbr%3E%E3%80%80I+feel+extremely+honored+to+have+been+appointed+Executive+Officer+and+Regional+Representative+for+South+Asia.+%3Cbr%3E%E3%80%80The+NYK+Group+operates+a+diverse+range+of+businesses+globally%2C+and+much+of+its+business+is+managed+by+its+headquarters+in+Tokyo.+In+recent+years%2C+as+the+business+environment+has+become+increasingly+complex+due+to+geopolitical+developments%2C+changes+in+supply+chains%2C+and+diversifying+customer+needs%2C+the+Tokyo+headquarters+formulated+a+regional+strategy+aimed+at+strengthening+business+execution+and+accelerating+the+creation+of+new+businesses.+%3Cbr%3E%E3%80%80The+aim+of+this+strategy+is+to+enable+the+Group+to+steadily+achieve+the+goals+set+out+in+its+medium-term+management+plan+by+enhancing+interregional+collaboration+and+responsiveness.+%3Cbr%3E%E3%80%80Based+on+this+strategy%2C+my+mission+as+Regional+Representative+is+to+develop+the+%E2%80%9Cregional+structure.%E2%80%9C+%3Cbr%3E%E3%80%80The+South+Asia+region+covers+an+area+stretching+from+the+Philippines+to+the+Indian+subcontinent+and+Australia%2C+and+the+Group+has+104+local+subsidiaries+%28including+43+consolidated+companies%29+across+the+area.+About+12%2C500+people%2C+equivalent+to+one-third+of+all+employees%2C+work+there%2C+and+14+country+representatives+are+assigned+there.+%3Cbr%3E%E3%80%80Each+Group+company+is+highly+autonomous+and+capable.+We+will+connect+them%2C+identify+cross-business+synergies+to+deliver+sustainable+value%2C+and+accelerate+mobility+programs+that+promote+talent+mobility+for+optimal+staff+allocation.+%3Cbr%3E%E3%80%80%E2%96%A0+Key+issues+and+business+policies+of+responsible+divisions+%3Cbr%3E%E3%80%80Currently%2C+NYK+Group+South+Asia%2C+the+regional+headquarters+for+South+Asia+%28headquartered+in+Singapore%29%2C+places+emphasis+on+governance%2C+including+financial+management+and+audit+functions.+%3Cbr%3E%E3%80%80What+I+want+to+do+is+to+transform+the+company+into+a+more+%E2%80%9Cbusiness-driven%E2%80%9C+regional+headquarters+that+is+more+closely+linked+to+the+Tokyo+headquarters.+%3Cbr%3E%E3%80%80While+the+Tokyo+headquarters+formulates+the+global+strategy+for+the+Group+as+a+whole%2C+execution+of+that+strategy+will+increasingly+depend+on+effective+regional+coordination%2C+local+implementation%2C+and+stronger+support+for+Group+companies.+%3Cbr%3E%E3%80%80From+this+perspective%2C+going+forward%2C+the+regional+headquarters+will+be+expected+to+play+a+greater+role+in+areas+such+as+execution+support%2C+performance+monitoring%2C+identifying+cross-business+opportunities%2C+strengthening+intelligence+on+regional+markets%2C+enhancing+regional+governance%2C+and+fostering+leadership+and+organizational+capabilities+across+the+region+as+a+whole.+%3Cbr%3E%E3%80%80Through+this+transformation%2C+the+regional+headquarters+will+contribute+to+the+NYK+Group%E2%80%99s+sustainable+value+creation.+%3Cbr%3E%E3%80%80One-third+of+the+world%E2%80%99s+population+is+concentrated+in+South+Asia.+Now+that+the+United+States+and+Europe+are+mature+and+China%E2%80%99s+economic+momentum+is+beginning+to+slow%2C+this+region+is+the+focal+point+of+growth.+%3Cbr%3E%E3%80%80For+example%2C+in+the+automotive+sector%2C+the+impact+of+U.S.+tariffs+has+led+many+Chinese+companies+to+build+new+plants+in+South+Asia%2C+while+Japanese+manufacturers+are+also+expanding+production+in+India+and+elsewhere.+Demand+for+logistics%2C+energy%2C+project+cargo%2C+and+dry+bulk+is+also+surging%2C+and+the+growth+potential+is+immeasurable.+%3Cbr%3E%E3%80%80On+the+DX+%28digital+transformation%29+front%2C+we+will+advance+operational+optimization+using+AI+%28artificial+intelligence%29%3B+on+the+sustainability+front%2C+we+will+contribute+to+achieving+net-zero+GHG+%28greenhouse+gas%29+targets%2C+including+through+new+energy%3B+and+in+new+fields%2C+we+would+also+like+to+pursue+offshore+data+center+projects+and+space-related+businesses.+%3Cbr%3E%E3%80%80%E2%96%A0+Career+to+date+%3Cbr%3E%E3%80%80Born+and+raised+in+India%2C+I+aspired+to+work+as+a+seafarer+while+also+studying+business%2C+and+joined+Wilhelmsen+Lines+in+1990.+After+becoming+a+captain+in+2003%2C+I+earned+a+master%E2%80%99s+degree+in+maritime+studies+and+an+MBA+%28Master+of+Business+Administration%29.+%3Cbr%3E%E3%80%80After+that%2C+I+held+shore-based+positions%2C+including+port+operations+in+Singapore+and+the+launch+of+a+logistics+startup+in+India.+In+2010%2C+I+was+approached+by+NYK+and+decided+to+join+the+company%2C+feeling+that+it+would+offer+opportunities+to+learn+across+a+diverse+range+of+business+fields.+%3Cbr%3E%E3%80%80What+I+have+come+to+appreciate+since+joining+NYK+is+that+the+corporate+culture+places+a+strong+emphasis+on+quality+and+safety%2C+values+that+are+deeply+rooted+in+me.+%3Cbr%3E%E3%80%80%E2%96%A0+Memorable+Work+%3Cbr%3E%E3%80%80In+my+16-year+career+at+NYK%2C+one+of+the+most+rewarding+experiences+was+being+involved+in+the+success+of+two+startups.+%3Cbr%3E%E3%80%80One+is+NYK+Auto+Logistics+India%2C+which+is+engaged+in+automobile+logist
